Learn More About Paul Mann And Find Your Next Boat
While still in his teens, Paul Mann learned traditional Carolina boatbuilding from legendary North Carolina boat builders such as Sunny Briggs, Buddy Canady, and Omie Tillett. At age 20, he obtained his captains license and began his own charter business, fishing the rough waters out of the notorious Oregon Inlet, then building boats during the winter season and downtimes. In 1988, Paul Mann was able to build his own sportfishing boat based on his experiences as a charter boat captain—fishing and handling many different boats, along with the knowledge he gained from building boats with some the best Carolina builders. These experiences helped shape his ideas for designing and building superior, seaworthy boats. Just four years later, in 1992, he incorporated as Mann Custom Boats, Inc. and in 2018, celebrated 30 years of boat building in the 40,200 sq ft facility located in Manns Harbor, NC. Paul Mann is still known as one of the top custom sportfishing boats for sale on the market today.
List Of Paul Mann Yachts On The Brokerage Market
Paul Mann exhibited an unparalleled ability to source and integrate the newest and best systems, running gear, electronics, and digital technologies, often specified by clients. He was able to combine time-tested techniques with the latest high-tech materials, technology, and processes. Paul Mann boat hulls were constructed using the traditional wood plank on frame with plywood overlay and/or cold-mold composite shaped on a jig. Using Tricel, honeycomb, Decolite, and foam in the structure kept the boats much lighter compared with other same size boats, without compromising strength. The boats’ exceptional seaworthiness though, is the result of Paul Mann’s design that allow them to perform in a variety of sea conditions—following, head, and side to side. He used firsthand experience on how his boats were used, along with evaluating methods and materials, to develop specialized running bottoms based on clients’ fishing styles.
Building only three boats a year ensured better quality control and meticulous attention to details, directly supervised by Paul Mann himself, who developed a very versatile set-up process to facilitate changes in length, width, and height without requiring new jigs to be built.
Clients were included in the process, especially in the design phase, to create the custom interiors to perfectly fit their lifestyles and personal preferences. The handcrafted interiors were built in-house utilizing the highest quality materials and brands. Paul Mann custom convertible fishing yachts provide owners with superior performance and a comfortable home-on-the water, anywhere in the world. The 1988 Paul Mann hull #1 continues to be fished, a tribute to the durability and seaworthiness of these magnificent yachts.
Paul Mann retired in 2021, closing the business and leaving a legacy of over 40 yachts ranging in length from 52ft to 81ft that are world-class sportfishers and proven, time-tested tournament winners.
