Mangrove-lined rivers, streams, marsh pools with clear shallow water just go on and on in wild scenic beauty. The Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve is 110,000 acres of mangrove forest, uplands and sensitive estuary waters that encompasses 40% of Collier County Coastline from Gordon Pass in Naples to the western Everglades. It is managed by the Florida Dept. of Environmental Protection, NOAA and Florida International University. Educational kayak tours and much more are offered to students and the public. The Cocohatchee and Gordon Rivers in Naples are also wonderful to explore by kayak.

For boaters, Florida’s Paradise Coast offers so much to explore, experience and enjoy with its many uninhabited islands, sugar-sand beaches, loads of shells, gently lapping Gulf of Mexico warm waters, magnificent sunsets and rich history in the cities and towns that have developed over the years.

Cruising further south from Naples is Marco Island, the largest of the Ten Thousand Islands, surrounded mostly by Barfield Bay, Marco River and the Gulf of Mexico. The Esplanade, built in Coastal Italian style, is located on North Collier Blvd, the island’s major thoroughfare. The Esplanade, with 1,100 ft of waterfront on Smokehouse Bay, features 50,000 sq. ft. of retail, office, multi-family residences and a 72-slip marina. The central courtyard with ornate fountains opens to the waterfront promenade.

Visitors can access The Esplanade by boat and shop a variety of boutiques, enjoy relaxation at a day spa and dine at 3 different restaurants--CJ’s on the Bay, Mango’s Dockside Bistro, Chop239, and other eateries. The Esplanade Marina is a first-class facility for the southwest Florida boating lifestyle, with 72 wet slips for vessels up to 65’ LOA (length over all) and offers transient, monthly, seasonal and annual leases.

Rose Marina has deep water direct access to the Gulf and can accommodate a variety of vessels, including wide beam catamarans. The maximum slip length is 181’ and the marina has a 95’ fuel dock. This marina offers transient and 12-month leases; shower and laundry facilities are expected to be available in Dec. 2020. Other marinas are Marco Island Marina, Dolphin Cove, Isle of Capri Marina, Tarpon Club Marina and Caxambas Park & Marina.

Cruising further south, explore the historic fishing village of Goodland and Everglades City, the stone crab capital of the world (City Seafood, Triad Seafood).
