KESTREL is a beautiful example of the classic Wilbur Hardtop Downeast Cruiser.  Built in Southwest Harbor, Maine and used most of her life in the northeast,  KESTREL draws on her lobster boat roots with a strong, seaworthy hull and traditional Downeast lines, and beautiful craftsmanship.  Set up for comfortable coastal cruising for a couple, she also accommodates a group of friends and family for the day with her large cockpit and pilothouse.

KESTREL is stored inside getting her winter work done and easy to see at the Hinckley Service yard in Southwest Harbor.

KESTREL is fully commissioned and in the water ready to go for the season and easy to see on a mooring at Hinckley Yacht Services in Southwest Harbor, Maine.

CONSTRUCTION:

Hull:

• Solid fiberglass construction with increased thickness and reinforcement at higher stress areas.
• Forward spray rail painted to match hull
• Quarterguard aft painted to match hull with stainless steel chafe strip
• Skeg provides good tracking and extends to support base of rudder and protects prop
• Varnished teak rubrail at sheer with stainless steel chafe strip

ACCOMMODATIONS:

KESTREL has a traditional open layout below with a galley to port and a large enclosed head opposite to starboard (with separate shower stall) and a large v-berth forward with ample storage in drawers and hanging lockers as well in lockers under the berth.  The interior is finished in a Herreshoff style with white bulkheads and overhead and varnished mahogany trim with contrasting ash hull ceiling, resulting in a warm, light feel below
