FELICITY is a stunning example of the lasting value of a Picnic Boat and how proper maintenance of a well built boat can keep it in almost new condition. FELICITY was the first Picnic Boat sold with the Hamilton Jet System and has been lightly used summers in Northeast Harbor, Maine by the same family since new. Cared for by the same captain since new and stored inside a heated building, she needs to be seen to appreciate her condition and the care she has enjoyed.
NTRODUCTION:
The Picnic Boat was originally designed to draw from the designs of classic Downeast working boats but with the advantages of modern materials and naval architecture. A large cockpit and pilothouse provide room for family and friends while a simple interior below contains an enclosed head, small galley and everything needed for a night aboard. The addition of waterjet propulsion results in shallow draft and increased maneuverability and the heirloom level craftsmanship ensures lasting quality and value.
CONSTRUCTION:
HULL:
The hull is constructed using the SCRIMP resin infusion system with inner and outer skins of Kevlar/E-Glass hybrid knit fabric and a balsa core infused with Vinylester resign. The Kevlar provides puncture resistance and the core adds strength and stiffness in addition to adding thermal and acoustic insulation. The Vinylester resin provides resistance to osmosis and the infusion process fills any crevices in the core material, protecting against future issues with core or delamination.
DECK:
Cockpit:
The large open cockpit provides room for family and friends with seating across a large removable aft bench seat as well as on the engine box.
Pilothouse:
The pilothouse provides seating at the helm to starboard with a bench seat for passengers opposite to port
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The simple and elegant interior comfortably sleeps two in the v-berth forward with a small galley to port and an enclosed head to starboard. The interior is finished in Herreshoff style with white bulkheads and satin-varnished mahogany trim and a traditional teak and holly cabin sole, resulting in a lighter and more open feeling interior than most Picnic Boats.
Galley:
The galley is located at the base of the companionway to port, opposite the head.
