Aleria is a true testament to the tradition and attention to detail that Maine boatbuilders are renown for. Built by the iconic builders at Bunker and Ellis in 1958 and refit by Johanson Boat Works in Rockland, Maine in 2010/2011, stepping onboard Aleria is like stepping back into an era past were detailed craftmanship, quality materials and sensible design were at the center of the ethos.

1" cedar planks over 2 1/2" x 1 1/4" steam-bent oak frames. Oak stem, keel, deadwood, and stern frame. Mahogany transom, cabin and shelter sides. Evidure screw fastened; hull was refastened below waterline by the Ralph Stanley Yard in 1996 with No. 14 screws.
Cockpit sub sole is glass over 1/4" plywood. Coach roof and pilot salon roof are fiberglassed and painted. Open cockpit is 14'6" x 10' with no step into the pilot salon, a 3'9" aft deck and two lockers.

Aleria sleeps a total of 5 in two cabins and the single bunk in the pilot salon. Two 7' long vee berths forward just behind the rope locker. A head is between forward berths with storage lockers under berths. Aft to port is a 17" wide hanging locker. In main cabin there is a settee to starboard that makes into upper and lower 6'6" bunks. On port side is a complete galley with stainless steel sink with pump, 3-burner propane stove and oven, and large ice box with cold plates. The galley has several drawers, cabinets, and bins for accessories. Aft to stbd. is a large 4'6" enclosed head that has an electric toilet, holding tank, overboard discharge and sink. All cloth cushions are 4" thick. Cabin interior is white bulkheads and ceilings with varnished mahogany trim. Six opening ports and two cabin-top hatches for good ventilation. Headroom below is 6'2". A spacious and comfortable 2-cabin layout for four adults.
