The Viking 80 Convertible, introduced to the fleet in 2015, has the more recent sleek styling of the 92 and 62 Convertible models, with its dramatic sheerline of 9’ forward freeboard tapering to 3’5” aft. The newer hull form with sharper entry and higher forward chine crushes through head seas, tossing aside spray. Convex forward hull sections, along with a 21’4” beam that is carried further aft, add greater stability, buoyancy, and interior volume. Four molded running strakes enhance lateral tracking and maneuverability. Viking added tumble home to the curved transom for a classic touch. Deadrise at transom is a flatter 12.5 degrees. Profile is perfectly proportioned and elegant; the 80 C is designed and built for speed and fishability, with the luxurious living areas of a motor yacht.

With the goal of attaining a top speed of 40+ knots, the 80 C has been constructed with high-tech materials and methods to reduce weight while providing the strength Viking Yachts is known for, the rigidity necessary for the rigors of tournament fishing, and cruising comfortably and safely anywhere in the world.
Viking’s own VIPER steering system for independent rudder operation optimizes response at all speed ranges for superb handling in every sea condition, working in concert with a powerful hydraulic bow thruster and individually controlled center, port and starboard trim tabs that are recessed in transom.
Veem S-class nibral 5-blade propellers on Aquamet stainless steel shafts are set in deep hull prop pockets maximizing the thrust powered by twin 2,635 hp MTU S-2000 V16 M96L diesels and reducing the draft to 5’7” (twin 1,925 hp CAT C32A1925CRM diesels are standard). Proven time and again to achieve top speeds of over 40 knots and an easy mid to high 30’s cruising speeds, depending on load and sea conditions, the 80 Convertible is fast and nimble like a much smaller boat, able to cut S-turns, reverse and spin to land those trophy fish.
The 216 square foot cockpit and mezzanine area is well-equipped for tournament fishing with two bait freezer boxes (portside mezzanine), starboard mezzanine ice chipper box, cockpit sole livewell, drop-in sole fishbox with split lid, in-sole storage box, transom coaming box, transom door with lift gate and swim steps, tackle and gear stowage, refrigerated chill box undermounted in mezzanine step, four Rupp flush mounted rod holders, cabinet for gaffs and other accessories under port and starboard gunwales, and more. As a built-to-order yacht, Viking offers owners the ability to personalize with options and upgrades desired throughout the vessel.
The Viking 80 Convertible is available with Open (standard 80 C) or 80 Enclosed Flybridge (80 EB) and the enclosed bridge version can be further upgraded to the Sky Bridge (80 SB) model. The Viking design and engineering team seamlessly added an open bridge deck above the enclosed bridge without breaking continuity of the 80 EB’s beautifully proportioned, sleek profile. The Sky Bridge offers the magnificent panoramic views of an open bridge, ample guest seating and amenities such as an insulated cooler, freshwater sink, and plenty of storage. Like the open model with elevated control station, the Sky Bridge offers visibility benefits for fishing and features—large recessed, protected area for multifunction displays, engine and steering controls, electronic controls, radio boxes, along with optional raised teak helm, power-actuated drop-down electronics box, and teaser reel box in the hardtop. Sky Bridge is accessed by a ladder from the enclosed bridge’s aft deck through a hatch.
The optional Enclosed Bridge features the Viking raised wraparound helm console with black Ultraleather surfaces and visor to reduce glare on electronics screens. The forward positioned control station includes all necessary switches, instruments, engine controls, and power assisted steering. The 80C could be known as the ultimate sportfishing boat.
Companion seats with drawer storage beneath flank the Stidd helm chair, starboard and port sides. To aft is an elevated L-shaped lounge with storage beneath and a fixed pedestal mounted cocktail table, and beautifully finished hardwood cabinetry. Entertainment center with 32” HD TV on lift, stereo with CD player, and refrigerator with icemaker create a second “salon” directly accessible from main salon below via custom staircase. Air conditioning with reverse cycle heating contribute to the comfort and enjoyment of the enclosed bridge. A locking weatherproof aft door opens to the bridge’s extended aft deck that features a pod-style docking station with single-lever controls and built-in bow thruster control buttons. A molded fiberglass cushioned aft-facing seat has storage beneath. Ladder in deck hatch leads down to cockpit mezzanine.
Spacious main salon is accessed from cockpit via steps to an electronic sliding door. Day head is immediately to starboard aft corner of the open bridge model, or forward of the starboard dinette of the enclosed bridge model. Designed with the classical elegance and comfortable functionalism that is a hallmark of the renowned William Bales and Company interior design firm. C-shaped lounge has rod storage beneath and a hi-lo cocktail table. A home theater system includes a 60” HD TV that lifts electronically from a cabinet opposite the lounge and Bose system with custom surround sound. TV is fixed-mounted in the enclosed bridge model. Icemaker cabinetry, cabinetry with drawers and bottle storage are all beautifully finished. Designer décor touches such as the lambrequin window treatments are evident throughout. Fluted wood valances conceal the air-conditioning/heat registers that evenly disperse cool or warm air throughout the interior living areas.
The open wraparound galley on portside is laid out fore to aft, instead of athwartship, with a granite countertop overhang and 3 barstools opposite the starboard side dinette. Galley features 4-burner electric cooktop and hob (high velocity exhaust fan), undermounted stainless steel sink with garbage disposal, microwave/convection oven, large capacity undercounter Sub-Zero refrigeration and freezer drawers, trash compactor and plenty of book-matched varnished cabinets and drawers. C-shaped dinette couch has pull-out rod storage underneath and a pedestal mounted walnut dinette table. Forward of galley and dinette are maple-lined walk-in storage pantries; large portside space could be repurposed to crew bunk room, office, or dedicated rod and tackle room per owner’s preference.
Down a few steps, companionway to staterooms features a laundry center with stacked washer and dryer, linen closet and central vacuum connection (a connection is also on the enclosed bridge deck, which is carpeted). The five-stateroom, six-head accommodations layout features a full-beam master suite with king-size walkaround berth with upholstered headboard and storage beneath, end tables, port and starboard maple-lined hanging closets, credenzas with drawer storage, entertainment center with 40” HD TV, FM/DVD surround sound system, vanity/desk area with stool, and ensuite head.
Forward VIP guest stateroom and port aft stateroom feature island queen berths, maple-lined hanging lockers, flatscreen TV, and plenty of storage. Starboard guest and/or crew staterooms feature upper and lower bunks with storage under lower bunk, maple-lined hanging locker, storage drawers. Each stateroom has private head with granite countertops, custom Amtico flooring, vanity with sink, Headhunter toilet, linen storage, stall shower with light, medicine cabinet with mirrored doors and more. The 80 Convertible is more than comfortable for extended cruises to the islands or remote fishing destinations.
The Viking 80 Convertible LOA is 80’6” with a 21’4” beam and 5’7” draft. Gross weight with standard fuel load is 145,461 lbs. Cockpit area is 217 sq. ft. Standard fuel capacity is 2,600 gallons (optional capacity is 3,200 gal.); water is 400 gallons and holding tank is 250 gallons.
