The Gran Tursimo 40 recreates the sport cruiser concept. Designed by the talented hands of Nuvolari and Lenard, this novel variation offers as much pleasure to the eye as sensations and driving. The design of this boat is harmonious with perfectly organised interiors and a high quality of finish.
The slender line of the Gran Tursimo 40, underlined by her hardtop and well-designed side glazing, emphasize her pronounced sporty character. With her central driving console and the latest generation of Air Step® hull, she offers excellent sensations and safety when travelling at up to 38 knots. The space in the cockpit is generous and organised in an unusual way. It can seat up to 11 people. With two layout possibilities, the outdoor galley (to aft or in the cockpit) adapts to different lifestyles on board.
This Beneteau GT 40, Raise A Pint is a lightly used Chesapeake boat with all of the right equipment. Powered by Volvo D-4 Diesels pushing twin Volvo Duo-Prop outdrives, she's fast and nimble. She's got a full hardtop with retractable roof, and cockpit heat and air. She's on land for the winter, winterized. Full detailing is scheduled. Complete photo sets to follow.

Boarding the boat via the wide and broad teak-lined swim platform, there's a transom door to port. To starboard there are a set of steps leading to the gunnels. The fuel fills for both tanks are conveniently located on that rear starboard gunnel. Under the step-up is access to the cablemaster outlet for the 50 amp shore power service. Across the transom is a service area that houses an electric grill/cooktop, and a small sink. It's all beneath a finished, water-tight fiberglass lid.
Proceeding forward to port, you'll enter the cockpit area. It's all under cover of the full-length hardtop, with a short awning to cover the entire area with shade; and the rear and sides are enclosed by a vertical sunbrella and isinglass drop curtains. To the port is a comfortable settee with storage beneath; across the stern is a full bench seat with storage beneath, and that extends up the starboard into a spacious lounge with storage underneath, ending with a rear facing backrest. There is a teak, hi-low table with a flip-over leaf to accommodate outside dining. In all, there?s comfortable seating for almost a dozen people.
Forward of the settee, to port, is a cabinet for built-in storage of glasses, bottles and sundry. Still farther forward is the handy IsoTherm stainless-door cockpit fridge. Across from that is the Helm Seat module, comprised of a bench seat, seating two, with flip-up bolster, and a single helm chair with arm rests and a flip-up bolster as well. Please see "Helm" for more details.
Aft of the helm bench seat is a double-wide, rear facing lounge seat, completing the 360 degree seating arrangement in the cockpit. Beneath the seat is more storage. The section also houses the cockpit heat and air conditioning unit, which is ducted to the cockpit and helm area. The controls are located just inside the staircase leading to the salon, above the electrical supply panel.
The cabin is accessed via a plex door with plex overhead slide, all to the port of the cockpit. Descending the wide and gentle staircase you find the electrical panel at eye-level on the port bulkhead. The Fusion Bluetooth compatible stereo controller is there as well. Moving forward, an L-shaped dinette to port converts to a sleeper. There is a large hi-lo dining table to serve the dinette. Behind the dinette are two secure opening portholes providing light and ventilation.
Forward to the bow area, and behind a privacy door, you find the master stateroom, featuring a large island V-berth, plenty of storage cabinets, lockers and ledges. There are directional reading lights forward, and a 20" Insignia flat panel TV. There is also a master Fusion stereo controller to serve the stateroom.
Opposite the dinette, to starboard is the galley, complete with Kenyon two-burner electric glass cooktop stove, stainless sink, Danby microwave, Waeco under-counter fridge/freezer, and plenty of storage cabinets. There is another water-tight opening porthole beneath the cabinet, which will provide cross-ventilation. There is a 24" flat panel Insignia TV mounted above the sink. The cabinet behind it is still usable for storage.
Aft of the galley, to starboard, is the well-appointed head. It features teak flooring, a stainless sink, a Jabsco electric marine head, and a separate stand-up stall shower, with a clear plexiglass door.
Moving aft, there is the huge mid-cabin behind another privacy door. This guest stateroom can be set up as another entertainment seating space or a private second stateroom. It features a huge berth, easily comfortable for two adults. There are plenty of storage lockers and compartments, directional lighting, and large inset windows to bring in natural light.
The Volvo D4 diesels are accessed via a single or double floor hatch in the cockpit. On the forward bulkhead, center is the 5 kw Onan diesel generator. To starboard and port are the two fuel tanks, with easily accessible valve and sender systems. To starboard is the Halon automatic fire extinguishing system. To port is another remotely operated manual extinguisher. Further aft to port is the Marinco 700 W battery charger. Most of the fresh and sea water plumbing is located affixed to the starboard side hull and stringers. Aftmost, to starboard, is the cablemaster motor and barrel.
The engines are well placed and very accessible for ease of service.
The bow is accessed via secure gunnels with railings that travel all the way from bow to the cockpit. There are steps port and starboard for easy access. There are ample beefy mid-ship cleats, and the high side rails make for secure bow access and docking. Up in the bow there is a good, flat work area to manage anchoring. The Lewmar windlass and rope locker sit inside a deck hatch in the bow. The anchor chute extends out beyond the stem and keeps the ground tackle from being underfoot.
There is a centered hatch that lies above the V berth. Aft of that are the twin bow lounge cushions that prop up and make a reclining lounge.
The centerline helm is very smartly laid out. The helm seat is a double wide bench with flip-up bolsters. To the starboard of that is a nicely padded navigator's chair. Down low on the bulkhead is the Simrad wired handheld VHF and remote speaker, The starboard side window has an opening port for air flow. The dash has the full complement of electronics. Simrad GPS Plotter; Volvo engine management readout; Volvo electronic control binnacle with twin throttles and shift, cruise control and single lever operation; Volvo Joystick control with docking mode; the Bow Thruster control, Plastimo binnacle mount compass; trim tab switches, and Volvo ignition system. At the top of the electronics pod are two ducts feeding air conditioning and heat to the helm. The steering wheel tilts to provide the optimum steering feel whether sitting or standing. Stainless cup holders are at the captain's left.
There is full switching at the helm for all necessary driving systems, as well as for the retractable roof.
