42' Alden Lyle Harrington 42' Yawl 1974

$ 135,000

Shanti

In 1970 Walter N. Howley, then a teacher at St Paul School, hired Lyle Harrington of Bradford, N.H., to build a John G. Alden designed 42-foot wooden yawl to be named Rondalay. In the four years it took to build this boat, Mr. Howley learned how to sail from books and from his St. Paul’s students, who would accompany the Hawley family on chartered boats.

Launched in 1974 Rondalay became a teacher herself, schooling the Howley family and friends in the ways of wind and water with graduate studies 1979 when the Howley’s crossed the North Atlantic, cruised through Europe and the Mediterranean, crossed the Atlantic once again on the more southerly route to the Caribbean where they continued their cruise and finely headed Rondalay’s bow north, headed towards home.

Now named Shanti this beautiful John G Alden 42’ yawl has gone on to school two more classes of students / owners in the way of the oceans and coast lines. Her current owners have enjoyed their time in oceanic academia and now having graduated at the top of their class wish to pass Shanti along to the next batch of students. Under the care of Rockport Marine for many semesters, Shanti is more than ready to step up to the lectern for many more years of imparted wisdom.
