SARAH JANE is a Ted Fontaine designed world cruiser built by Lyman-Morse and superbly finished by the craftsman at Dana Robes boatbuilder. She features a relatively heavy displacement and shoal draft centerboard configuration for exceptional sea kindliness and rare access to shallower cruising grounds given her board up draft of only 6’. Her powerful sail plan and deep centerboard enhance performance in all conditions.
Commissioned to bring her owners and family around the world in safety and comfort, everything about the yacht is first class. Once aboard you quickly notice SARAH JANE is fit with equipment often found on much larger yachts. After spending many winters stored indoors, she is in excellent condition and has always been cared for by her Captain and Owner.
SARAH JANE features a 3-cabin layout with teak joinery, walk-in engine and machinery area, and a spacious enclosed pilothouse area with comfortable seating for dining and great views all around.

Specifications
The hull is molded fiberglass laid-up by hand and vacuum bagged with a 30mm thick, non-scored, Core-Cell foam core and solid fiberglass at the sheer, centerline and in the area of all thru-hulls. Balsa core used behind the rub rail in the hull. The deck and superstructure is molded fiberglass laid up by hand with a core of Core-Cell and additional reinforcement at the deck/hull area. West ProSet epoxy laminating resin used.

GRABRAILS
The top of the pilothouse roof has grabrail around perimeter of brow, the cockpit coaming backrests have a rebated inboard grabrail in combination with the teak caprail.

RUDDER
FRP constructed rudder with FRP rudder stock and internal reinforcements. Split trailing edge with a kick up blade.
HULL FITTINGS
All thru-hull fittings of bronze, screwed and bolted in place and fitted with a seacock.
BALLAST
27,000 lbs. Internal lead poured into keel.
MAIN CENTERBOARD
FRP constructed main centerboard with pin bearing, internal ballast, and pennant sheave. Draft measurement with centerboard up is 5'-11", with centerboard down is 15'.
STEERING WHEEL
Edson 54” SS steering wheel with standard sprocket and chain.
EMERGENCY STEERING SYSTEM
Emergency steering by means of a separate stainless steel emergency tiller.
FOREPEAK
This area contains the anchor handling gear and chain locker. There is a short watertight door between the owner’s stateroom and forepeak. The door is located above the centerline seat. There are port and starboard workbench surfaces with storage bins for tools and parts. The sole is finished with a commercial duty rubber flooring material. Under the sole is a watertight hatch to allow access to the bow thruster.
OWNER’S STATEROOM
This stateroom spans the width of the boat. There are wide port and starboard bunks forward with a seat between them on centerline. Outboard of the bunks are lockers and bookshelves and aft of the port bookshelf is a hanging locker. Opposite the hanging locker, to starboard, is the owner’s desk. The sole is teak and holly. Aft on the port side is the owner’s head with stall shower. The head has a teak grate, and the shower has a Corian panel over a molded pan.
MAIN SALOON
On the port side there is a U-shaped settee with an oval teak dining table and bookshelves fore and aft. Outboard of the settee are lockers for crockery and glasses. Outboard on the starboard side there are lockers and a pop-up TV. The sole is teak.
GALLEY
The counter is U-shaped and contains a twin basin sink on the inboard side, storage under the fwd portion and the Bradwater 4-burner stove / oven. On the inboard face of the centerline counter there is a storage area. Over the forward portion of the countertop is a cabinet with a microwave. The forward outboard corner of the galley contains a freezer box under the counter with (2) top opening lids. The refrigeration box with a side-opening lid above the counter is aft. Sea Frost DC compressor and holding plates.
GUEST STATEROOM
Contains a twin single. Forward of the outboard bunk is a hanging locker. Between the bunks on the aft end of the stateroom is a small bureau with drawers. The sole is teak and holly. Forward of the guest stateroom is a head with separate stall shower. The head has a teak grate, and the shower has a Corian panel over a molded pan. The head includes a door at the base of the companionway steps allowing for use as a dayhead.
UTILITY ROOM / STARBOARD STATE ROOM
A combination utility room and captain’s cabin. Twin bunk berths. Leading aft is an insulated watertight door into the engine room.
PILOT HOUSE
There is a U-shaped settee to port with a teak table. The navigation station is on the starboard side facing forward. Forward of the navigation equipment enclosure is open down into the main saloon / galley. Outboard on the starboard side is a pilot berth. Inboard of the pilot berth is a countertop with chart and navigation tool storage. There is a large hatch in the sole to provide additional access to the engine room. Sole finished in natural teak. Wipers on forward windows.
ENGINE ROOM
The engine and machinery room contains the main engine, generator, steering, water maker, air conditioning, heating, hydraulics, spare parts and tools (including fitted storage box), and other miscellaneous pumps and equipment for the boat. Proper guards and handholds protect machinery and occupants. Sound insulation finished in perforated aluminum panels. Ease of maintenance, access, and safety will determine the layout of all equipment located in this area. The sole is FRP pultruded grating installed in easily removable sections.
INTERIOR STYLING
Interior in traditional raised-panel teak. Solid teak trim and molding. Hull ceilings are painted V-groove. Overheads are fabric-covered panels. Soles are teak and holly.
GENERAL
THE 12/24 V DC SYSTEM
GROUNDING
A complete bonding system is installed such that all thru-hull and metallic components are grounded with a #6 wire. The ground system is connected to a grounding plate mounted to the exterior of the hull below the waterline.
LIGHTNING PROTECTION
In addition to the chainplate and central bonding system, the mast step is bonded to the central bonding system by a 4” x 1/32” copper strap.
CATHODIC PROTECTION
Cathodic protection by a 10 lb zinc anode mounted inside the centerboard trunk and (2) zinc anodes mounted on the propeller shaft.

The engine/gearbox is controlled by a single lever control at the helmsman position in sailing cockpit with a second station in the pilot house.
The variable pitch propeller is controlled with push-button electric relay system with controls to increase pitch, decrease pitch with limit switches set at 0 and 90 (full feather).

All hatches are flush with self-draining gutters. All hatches, except forepeak and transom, are trimmed in teak with tinted Lexan center. Forepeak hatch is finished in teak to match deck. Transom hatch is painted to match hull. All deck hatches are equipped with riser arms to hold hatch open in any position. Forepeak hatch is equipped with gas pistons to hold hatch open to approximately 120 degrees.

Eight (8) custom opening ports inside of cabin house. The portlight are hand and electro polished 316 stainless steel, with screw type closure knobs, oil resistant neoprene gaskets, and tempered glass. The portlights have angled spigots so that no water collects in the frame when closed. Each portlight includes a fiberglass screen with rubber gaskets.

Transom door with approximate dimensions of 36” tall x 66” wide with access to the lazarette, and steering gear. The door is horizontal when opened.
LAZARETTE
The lazarette sole is finished with non-skid epoxy paint and include an access hatch for servicing the steering gear. The helmsman cockpit seat locker hatch provides additional access to the lazarette.
