Captain Joey Miller, owner and master craftsman behind Sinepuxent Boatworks on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, is preserving a proud maritime tradition through his passion for handcrafted wooden boats. Specializing in classic “Wood Plank on Frame” construction, Captain Miller builds custom Carolina and Deadrise-style boats that honor the heritage of the Chesapeake Bay and North Carolina coastlines.
A lifelong waterman with deep roots in the Eastern Shore community, Joey combines decades of experience on the water with exceptional woodworking skill. Every boat he builds is a unique reflection of time-tested design and craftsmanship, purpose-built for both beauty and performance. In 2023, he completed a stunning 28-foot Carolina-style boat that showcases his attention to detail and deep understanding of marine form and function.
This particular build exemplifies the Carolina style with its high freeboard and signature bow flare, providing an impressively dry and stable ride even in rough waters. Powered by twin Suzuki 300-horsepower outboards, the 28' cruises smoothly and efficiently, delivering both power and reliability for offshore runs or inshore cruising.
Whether you’re a commercial waterman, sport fisherman, or recreational boater, a Sinepuxent Boatworks vessel offers a blend of classic lines, superior seaworthiness, and handcrafted durability that’s hard to find in today’s market. Captain Joey Miller’s work is more than boatbuilding—it’s the continuation of a tradition, built one plank at a time.
