Mark Goodwin cannot remember life without boats. At 10 years old, he began operating john boats at his family's lake house in Maine and of course with boating comes fishing. Mark’s father was an integral part of teaching him to both fresh water fish for bass and reel in pelagic, snappers, grouper and sharks in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean. At 15, Mark took a mate job, fishing on a 115’ charter boat that made overnight trips to the middle grounds in the Gulf of Mexico. He was also fishing kingfish tournaments and serving as mate on sport fishing vessels. He couldn’t seem to get enough, so at age 16 he traveled to Key West to fish, dive and tend sport fishing boats. His goal being to learn enough to do it all by himself and one day be in charge. From that summer experience, he never looked back.
Boats are his passion and the ocean is where he wants to be. His boating, fishing and sailing adventures have taken him all over the world. He was a resident of Kauai for nearly a decade, where he ran his 35’ Contender hauling in giant tuna, marlin and wahoo. Mark also worked for Kaibear Charters and Napali Eco Adventures, swimming with clients among the majestic humpback whales.
After Mark returned to the mainland, he resumed working as a private yacht captain running private sport fish and yachts ranging from 65’ to 155’. He had the opportunity to oversee two builds and three massive refurbishments.
With over 35 years on the water, he has seen it all. In 2013, Mark safely evacuated a family of five from a burning boat, stayed on board and kept the boat from being a total loss. Mark has always seen the importance of safety on the water and utilizes his knowledge and experience to train new owner-operators safe handling of their vessels, as well as, SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea).
Mark's experience, knowledge and passion for boating makes him an excellent resource to any buyer or seller.
