Serenity Information

Built like a tank and laden with teak, the Hans Christian 38 Traditional (sometimes known as the 38T) is a heavy displacement double-ender that oozes the classic feel of a bygone age. It traces its origins back to the work of Colin Archer, the noted Norwegian naval architect and shipbuilder whose legendary boat designs inspired the demand for the salty Scandinavian double-ended styling.

"The Hans Christian 38T is beautiful visually and incredibly seaworthy with many circumnavigations under her belt. Owners love their live-aboard comfort and Cadillac ride. Due to her solidly constructed 26,500 pound hull which incorporate 9,800 pounds of lead encapsulated 6 feet down in the hull, she is stable, sea-kindly and dry with no bobbing or banging around, even in the rough stuff.

Above the waterline, the styling is classic Hans Christian; a long bowsprit, a springy sheerline, and rounded canoe stern with large dollops of teak all over. Below the waterline you'll find a heavy displacement hull with very rounded sections, a full keel with a forefoot cutaway and a big barn door rudder . They are solid boats overbuilt to cruise in safety and comfort.

"SERENITY" IS CARRYING ON THE HANS CHRISTIAN LEGACY. HER LAST VOYAGE TOOK HER FROM CALIFORNIA TO MEXICO, THE SOUTH PACIFIC AND HAWAII. SHE IS READY FOR A NEW OWNER AND "BUCKET LIST".

‘SERENITY’ a fiberglass double-ended cutter with wood bowsprit forward, canoe stern with boomkin, and full keel with keel hung rudder. Her aluminum single spreader spar is deck stepped.

Auxiliary propulsion is provided by a Yanmar freshwater cooled diesel engine. She carries 100 gallons of diesel and 100 gallons of fresh water. The vessel is a heavily built offshore cruising design, well suited for open ocean sailing and long distance passage making.

The bow sprit has double anchor bow rollers and a walkway with solid stainless steel railings. The foredeck has a king post, closed bronze chocks with integral cleats, horizontal electric anchor windless, and wood chest for the liquified propane gas (LPG) tank storage.

Stainless steel lifeline stanchions support double courses of lifeline wires. The lifeline stanchions are securely bolted to the gunwales. The cabin trunk has ten bronze opening portlights along the sides and two wood-framed hatches with acrylic tops, stainless steel mast pulpits, four dorade vents, teak handrails, boom gallows, and sliding companionway hatch. The cockpit has a brass pedestal-mounted wheel helm with lighted compass. The transom is fitted with a teak boomkin, stainless steel pushpit, and stainless steel dingy davits, which also support antennas and a solar panel.

Starting forward, the cabin is arranged with chain locker and V-berth cabin, followed by enclosed head with separate shower to port, and cabinets and lockers to starboard. Walking aft, the main salon consists of a U- shaped settee with dining table to port and a straight settee opposite to starboard. Both settees convert to berths.

The galley is in the aft port corner and includes a double stainless steel deep sink, LPG stove with oven, and top loading reefer. Aft of the galley is a private quarter cabin with double berth. Opposite the galley to starboard is a workbench, followed by an outboard facing navigation desk and single quarter berth. The engine is located under the aft end of the port settee and galley sink.” - Oct 2020 Professional Survey
