The 52nd annual Beach Haven White Marlin Invitational is in the books for another year and we are happy to announce that Team KAARMAA came out victorious. United Yacht Sales professional broker and captain Steve Castellini was part of the team that won the tournament by scoring 800 points from first place overall Billfish points, 2nd place for Billfish points on Day 2, 1st place White Marlin release, and 1st place Crew Calcutta. The winning prize was over $88,000!
"We were out fishing about 110 miles from Cape May Inlet and fishing was tough," said Captain Steve describing the day. "We saw a few more fish and decided that we had the opportunity to land them. We ended up with 5 White Marlin and 1 Blue. What really made it fun though was we were fishing with the owner's family and friends on board." Team Kaarmaa consisted of Anthony Alves (owner), Alex Alves (angler), Gabriel Alves (angler), Joseph Lees (angler), Ken Vande Vrede (angler), Mike Vande Vrede (angler), Dave Willekes (angler), Steve Castellini (captain), Ricky Shepanski (mate), and Kobey Treadwell (mate). Congratulations to all of you!
Team Kaarmaa hails from their homeport of Stuart, Florida and goes into battle with a Titan 64' custom Sportfish that was sold by Captain Steve back in February, 2021 to Anthony Alves and family. "After meeting Tony in Florida we almost immediately became friends," said Steve. "When he asked me to be his captain and fish on the Titan 64', it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. We've been fishing together ever since."
The Titan 64 was also an alluring factor for Captain Steve who loves how the custom sportfishing yacht handles. Powered with twin CAT C-32A 1,925HP engines, KAARMAA can reach speeds up to 41 knots and has all of the best options like Seakeeper gyro, twin 21kW generators, 800GPD water-maker, electronic trolling valves, and a perfectly designed cockpit.

For over 50 years, the White Marlin Invitational has been held in Beach Haven, New Jersey and has become a summertime tradition for many. Prizes are given out not just for Whites and Blues, but also tuna, wahoo, and dorado. Major contenders in the Billfish Tournament scene come to fish like BIG OIL, LOVIN LIFE, and BUSINESS - all 62-foot Viking Yachts. 50 different boats signed up to compete this year!
Captain Steve and Team KAARMAA are far from done! Now begins the 30th anniversary Mid-Atlantic Tournament! With over 200 boats fishing this tournament, the total purse is over $5.9 million! Stay tuned to find out how they did!
The United Yacht Sales team is no stranger to participating in and winning major offshore fishing tournaments. Just last month, Matt Parson was part of Team Devotion that won the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship. This consisted of 10 tournaments all around the Gulf of Mexico.
