This 55 Hatteras convertible "Joan IV" truly reflects a prestigious sportfishermen. This Hatteras convertible is the definition of a classic sport-fishing machine with its unique characteristics; such as the increased performance from its Covington 12V71TI Detroit Diesels with less then 600 hours on a full rebuild with new electronic controls. It has cockpit engine room access to the Detroit Diesels and 20KW Kohler Generator. This boat is the perfect mix of a luxury yacht and sportfishing machine.
As you step into the oversized cockpit you begin to start feeling the eloquence of owning a Hatteras sportfish. The rear bulkhead window which features a Marlin etched window, engine room access, stairs to the flybridge and entrance in spacious salon as well as cockpit controls for battling tournament winning fish. As you walk through the salon you will be greeted by the spacious layout. The salon features an L-Shaped couch, icemaker and plenty of room to entertain your guest. There is a dinette to your port and galley area to the starboard as well as stairs leading to the companionway leading to the staterooms and washer/dryer access. The dinette is a standard set up, table and two bench seats with the galley to the starboard side. The galley includes full size refrigerator, dishwasher, new stove top, plenty of storage and a new microwave.
Master Stateroom and Head
The master stateroom is to the starboard side of the boat with twin double berths with storage underneath. Stereo speakers throughout the stateroom and access to the master head and a full size closet. HVAC controls. The master stateroom head has a medicine cabinet with mirror, electric toilet and shower access.
GUEST STATEROOM 1:
Guess stateroom includes upper and lower berths, with storage under the lower berth, full size closet and access to the guest stateroom head. It also includes separate HVAC controls for comfortable sleeping.

Helm and Electronics
The helm is just as spacious as the salon, it includes: full size teak table cup holders, icemaker, refrigerator and a large wrap around vinyl seating area. Windshield with three electric windshield wipers and access to the tower. New Mathers electric controls, overhead electronics, including VHF radio, Garmin GPS, robertson auto pilot, Furuno radar, systems monitoring system and engine controls.
Engine and Mechanical Details
The engine room is just as meticulously taken care of and clean as the rest of the boat. As you open the engine room access door from the cockpit you are greeted by a varnished teak entry way into the stand up engine room, going down the stairs to the port is the Kohler generator and to the starboard a new 19 gallon Atlantic hot water heater as well as plenty of shelving and storage for tools and equipment. Inboard of the engines is the fuel filters for both main engines as well as the generator. The Detroit Diesel Covington motors have been compeltely rebuilt with upgraded internals and hoses. The boat performs just as well as it looks with under 600 hours on the full rebuilds by Precision Marine and its updated Rolla props.
This 1982 55 Hatteras is the true definition of a classic sportfisherman that looks just as good as when it was first splashed. It was the 1982 Hatteras and has lived up to the Hatteras name. The current owner has owned it for over 30 years; going above and beyond of the routine maintenance. This Hatteras is exceptionally clean for its age and you will not find another one like it. The gelcoat has a great shine to it, teak is freshly varnished and the interior looks like new.
