Twenty years ago, when I sold this Shannon 43 Ketch to this couple, I did not envision them having such a long and successful run. After spending the first years exploring the US from Texas to Maine, they eventually made it to the Caribbean where they spent the next 17 + years. They roamed up and down from Venezuela to the BVI spending 4 months of every year just enjoying sailing. Rarely did they stay in a marina.  She crossed the Atlantic and returned twice.  Each of the first two owners took her to the Shannon river to qualify for the Waterford decanter given by Shannon;  both owners took her to the Baltic, wintered on the West Coast of Europe; and returned to the U.S by way of the Windward Islands.  BANSHEE was outfitted to live at sea or in the anchorage and she performed her task well. Like all good things, it is time for them to move on and spend more time with grandkids and other land born activities. Their hope is for BANSHEE to find new Owners who will continue the cruise. If you’re ready, give me a call and let’s get started. If you’re not ready, why not ?  Let’s go !!!

From: The World’s Best Sailboats by Ferenc Mate’

“I have always been a fan of honest boats, boats that do one thing remarkably well instead of boats that try to be all things to all people, only to end up as everybody’s nightmare. And my favorite boats are still long-distance cruisers that can sail the seven seas ably and with good speed, built without compromise in construction or design to serve her crew regardless of weather. Walter Schulz’s Shannons fit that description to perfection. “
