    Introduction

Designed by Sparkman and Stevens and built by Abeking and Rasmussen, DIVA is a true thoroughbred. Her elegant lines turn heads wherever she sails Launched in 1956 as NORTHERN LIGHT, this yacht is included in the book “The Best of the Best: Yacht Designs of Sparkman and Stevens.” She was custom built for Rudy Schaefer, of Schaefer Beer to compete in the Newport to Bermuda Race. DIVA’s yawl rig and keel/centerboard design make her ideal for both cruising and racing in the classic yacht regattas. Her current owners have cruised extensively on DIVA along the East Coast, the Caribbean, South and Central America. Recent restoration (summer 2014) includes refastening the hull, bottom painted and hull painted.

    Vessel Walkthrough

The chain locker forward is followed by the forward cabin with full/double berth.  There is plenty of storage including a hanging locker, another locker with shelves, a book shelf above the berth, and small dresser.  A large overhead opening hatch provides light and ventilation.  Lighting includes a brass overhead light and two brass wall lamps.  The forward cabin can be closed off for privacy with a sliding pocket door.
The head is to port with a stainless steel sink with hand held shower head, hot and cold water, mahogany vanity, Corian counter, and a Skipper head.  The teak floor is latticed for drainage when shower is in use.
Across from the head on starboard is a large storage locker/pantry with a shelf above.
The main salon has two settee berths that pull out with two sea berths above.  A gimbaled drop leaf mahogany table is in the center.  A large opening hatch is above the table.  Six storage lockers are located back of the berths and there is a book shelf.  The main salon has brass heading lights, an overhead brass light, a brass clock and barometer set, and a built in stereo radio.
To port is an L-shaped galley with three burner stove and oven, stainless steel sink, mahogany counter, and cabinets.
The teak cabin sole and extensive mahogany trim work run throughout the yacht.  The many portholes in the cabin provide excellent natural light and it is well vented by large dorade vents.  The cabin is entered thru the companionway with mahogany stairs which fold up to access the engine.

    Brokers Comments

As you can see, DIVA has had a wonderful life racing and cruising from New England to South America.  She is getting ready for her next adventure but is ready for a new captain.  The current owners have loved her, but they are two boat owners and only have time for one of their classics.  So DIVA is waiting for your inspection.  Come have a look and start making your plans.
