Lady Royal is ideally suited for cruising the Great Lakes, the Great Circle Loop, the canal systems in Canada and United States and coastal cruising. She is a two stateroom model, with a very large open ventilated salon and galley with plenty of storage. In 2006 Lady Royal had $160,000 restoration. Lady Royal is most likely the nicest 42 CHB out there. Further details of her restoration are outlined thru the full specs.
Lady Royal is outfitted with all life's conveniences: Bow Thruster, Two Garmin 4212s, four burner propane stove / oven, reverse heat/air conditioning, a tub / shower in the head, Seagull Water Purifier, U-Line ice maker, Glacier Bay Ultra-R custom Fridge / Freezer, Weaver Davits, heavy anchoring gear with 250' of all chain rode and a Lofrans 1200W windlass, 8 kw generator and oodles of house battery power and an inverter to power your 110V appliances when you don't want to run the generator, you can cruise without touching shore for weeks. Easily handled by a couple with full walk around from bow to stern.
Lady Royal is a full displacement vessel with very economical twin Ford Lehman diesels. At 8.5 knots she burns 3.4 gallons per hour (or 2.5 nmpg).
Her galley has plenty of storage with 8 drawers, overhead cabinets two large under counter cabinets and two shelves over the fridge / freezer. Counters are finished in granite. There is a 4 burner Magic chef stove / oven + ice maker. With the "galley up" location, the cook is always part of the conversation and activities, either at anchor or under way. Fresh, filtered pure water is provide via a separate galley faucet.
Galley enhancements include a custom Glacier Bay Ultra-R fridge / freezer (6 cf and 2 cf respectively). This unit provides R50 insulation. When combined with the Frigoboat keel cooled compressor and digital, smart speed control, this means keeping loads of frozen and fresh food, very little draw from your large house bank of batteries. Granite counters and a Seagull Water Purifier were added. A new, custom built teak and ebony salon dining table was built.
