Viking’s “relentless pursuit of excellence” is the family-owned builder’s philosophy that has kept the Viking 61 Sportfish a highly sought-after convertible yacht. DOUBLE D, an Enclosed Bridge model, is an excellent combination of sportfish and motor yacht that takes Viking’s emphasis on interior accommodations to another level—the bridge! The forward helm is arranged like that of a motor yacht’s pilothouse, with a full array of upgraded Garmin navigation electronics, controls, multiple displays (including the Garmin GC200 camera system), and other instrumentation. Visibility from the helm is excellent with huge surrounding windows that offer a panoramic view for guests seated on the elevated settee with table. An aft bridge deck control station with electronics eases backing into slips or on a fish. As well-appointed as the main salon, this “upper salon” features an entertainment center with beverage chiller, bottle storage, TV, and audio speakers for relaxing or entertaining in climate-controlled comfort. A spiral staircase leads down to the main salon, galley, dinette, and spacious lower level 3 stateroom/3 head accommodations—midships master and forward VIP with en-suite heads have walkaround king and queen berths. DOUBLE D’s performance benefits from the prop tunnels that Viking added to the 61C’s running bottom in 2003. The beautiful teak cockpit features a removable teak table on a stainless-steel stanchion for al fresco dining and socializing. Cabinets against the forward bulkhead conceal a freezer, refrigerator, electric grill, storage, and engine room access. Fishing amenities include in-deck fishbox, Eskimo ice chipper, flush rod holders in coamings, transom tuna door, triple spreader outriggers, and more.
