Scout answered its owners' call for a larger fishing machine with the revolutionary and rugged Scout 280 Abaco. The innovative Scout-Strata-Mount outboard engine mounting system commands unsurpassed structural strength. The 280 Abaco boasts the largest raised pilot station in her pack featuring a fully instrumented helm station, seating for four, with two captain's chairs that convert to leaning posts. Fishing features include a 35 gallon lighted live well, an enormous fighting deck, and extra large fish boxes. Hunters find refuge in the 280 Abaco's den, which offers a spacious V-berth, a nicely appointed galley, and a fully enclosed head with shower. The Yamaha engines only have approx. 200 hours on them.
Owner is accepting all offer.
As you board from the stern you enter a spacious cockpit. To starboard is a 32 gallon bait well. Forward is an elevated helm seat and passenger seat on the port side. From the elevated helm you find excellent visibility and updated electronics. The cockpit is open with plenty of space for swimming, diving or fishing. The full helm enclosure is in like new condition and the helm area is covered by a factory installed hardtop. Go below and you are surprised by the space. All the way forward is a full size V-Berth/dinette combination. The galley is to the port, with a Norcold refrigerator, a single burner Coleman range and plenty of storage space. To starboard is a full head with Vacuflush toilet and shower. She is a very comfortable and fully featured boat in a small manageable and economical size.
Scout Boats have no structural wood, and use composite stringers and transoms. The "Air Assist" hull was designed to combat static stability. With additional longitudinal buoyancy, the "Air Assist" hull increases the static flotation and decreases time to plane and vastly improves overall handling characteristics. A side benefit is increased fuel economy. The engine mounting system on the 280, called the "Scout Strata-Mount" is a fully factory molded bracket with one very important feature: the two main longitudinal grip stringers pass through the transom and are integrated into the engine mount. This design allows the natural stresses of the engines to be spread out over the entire hull, increasing strength, durability and performance.
