The JIM JIM is one of five Rybovich Yacht fisherman to be built. She has been owned by the same individual for over 25 years. Over this time, he has gone through every system and aspect of the vessel and had the Rybovich yard refit every possible detail without regard to cost. She is a remarkable boat and was primarily used for extended Bahamas cruises in the out islands. She is an excellent sea boat, has great accommodations, and a classic style seldom seen these days. Some improvements include the following:
Guest stateroom is forward with twin bunks with rod storage and drawer storage under. Aft to port is shower and vanity. To starboard is head. Aft to galley which is down. Galley has Jen-Aire stove, microwave, Subzero refrigerator, double stainless steel sink, built in pantry, and ample drawer and cabinet storage. Up to salon which has a L-Shaped settee to starboard with reel storage under. A custom teak table adjoins the settee. Forward in salon to starboard is a built in TV. Forward to port is an entertainment center with Sony stereo with CD player. Aft to port are two occasional chairs with a built in ice maker between them. Aft and across the salon bulkhead is a built in bookshelf. There is a doorway aft to port which accesses the bridge deck. Also aft to starboard is a companionway that goes down to the second head, stacked companionway berths, and the master stateroom with queen berth. Further aft in the companionway is a door leading up to the fishing cockpit. The bridge area has back to back bench seats shaded by an integrated hardtop and protected from the elements by a full length windshield. During her initial refit JIM JIM'S interior was substantially rebuilt.
In 1985 - 1986 the JIM JIM was gutted and rebuilt from stem to stern at Rybovich Boat Works. This refit included every conceivable system on the boat. Everything mechanical was replaced including engines, V-drives, refrigeration, AC, appliances, and so forth. The entire interior was replaced with a lavish use of teak paneling and trim and granite countertops. The galley, electronics, tower, cockpit, covering boards, and engine room were all completely redone. She got a new tower, teak transom, and exterior cabinetry. At the time, she was literally a new boat.
Today she remains in excellent condition having had in excess of $250,000 spent on her during a refit over the last year. She is currently getting the finishing touches on a full awlgrip paint jot and will be finished during March 2019.
