Custom built in 2008 by Wiggers Custom Yachts in Bowmanville Ontario. The fit and finish on this vessel is OUTSTANDING!
Roomy and designed for single handing, the 33 is an ideal yacht for the world’s best cruising waters. The like-new condition of the boat literally screams pride of ownership. Only a few overnight trips ever so the whole boat is like new with only 390 hours on the 40 hp Yanmar engine. The navigation equipment is all Raymarine and Osprey is ready for many more years of enjoyable cruising.
Osprey can be sailed single-handed from her deep, comfortable cockpit with only one halyard on an electric winch to raise or lower the sail, one sheet to control boom position, and a choker line to fine-tune sail shape for maximum efficiency. With a 31’ 6” waterline and huge single sail, she is extremely fast. Under power, a sail drive with fuel-efficient feathering Variprop provides great stopping power and the ability to reverse without the prop-walk typical of a traditional fixed-blade propeller. The cockpit is equipped with pedestal steering and stadium seating aft for great visibility underway, and there is a full array of updated Raymarine electronics including autopilot and radar for extended coastal cruising. Topside, wide non-skid side decks run unobstructed from bow to stern with double lifelines for added crew safety on those rare occasions where it’s necessary to go forward.
Below decks, a 12’ 6” beam and 6’ 6” headroom make for a cavernous interior and a sense of roominess normally found in much larger vessels. The mast is positioned well forward so it does not encumber the saloon or master suite. Opening portlights and overhead hatches provide bright, airy cabin spaces with beautiful teak cabinetry, classic wood accents and teak and holly flooring throughout. The master suite has a double berth, plenty of storage and en-suite access to the head and shower area, while the quarter berth aft provides a second sleeping area for two. Port-side, a U-shaped dinette seats up to eight, and a starboard-side settee opposite seats two in comfort with storage below. The galley is positioned at the companionway for easy access, and is well appointed with ample storage, solid surface countertops and deep stainless steel sinks.
Osprey’s cruising to date has been limited to freshwater (Great Lakes) and she is in exceptional overall condition. As one of only six custom built Nonesuch 33’s to be produced by Wiggers since Hinterhoeller ceased production in 1996, she is an extremely rare find. Quite simply, boats of this caliber rarely come on the market, and when they do, tend to get snapped up very quickly. Don’t miss this opportunity to own a very unique and highly sought-after sailing masterpiece. Easy to see in Stuart Florida, just 45 minutes north of West Palm Beach Airport (PBI).
Specifications
If you always wanted to be into a fine sailing vessel that is fast, but didn?t want all the extra effort of a multisail rig, a Nonsuch is your ideal sail boat. OSPREY’s condition and equipment list will impress you. This high quality sailing yacht has it ALL- the very easy to sail single sail rig with wishbone boom and shroudless mast can be handled by one person with all lines leading to cockpit. The nature of the sail and cat rig is such that because the sail is loose footed, the shape of the sail under way is perfect like the shape of a wing of an airplane. This makes the efficiency of the sail much higher than a conventional rigid boom and jib rig, and thus makes the boat much faster off the wind. This increase in efficiency converts the power of the wind into boat thrust instead of heeling force resulting in LESS HEELING and MORE SPEED! She has wide, safe side decks with minimal exterior maintenance. The Nonsuch 33 boasts a very large and comfortable cockpit and just about the biggest and most thoughtfully laid out interior one could ever find on a 33' boat.
Board vessel amidships via pelican hook gates on both port and starboard side, walk aft and step into spacious cockpit with cushioned seating for eight to ten people and a built in folding table. To get below, enter centerline companionway and take the four steps down into the main salon with teak/holly sole. Immediately to starboard is a Nav Station with electrical panel. Aft is the quarter berth with three teak lockers, storage under (and batteries), engine access and an opening port. Forward Forward again to starboard is a settee and the head/shower with one door to the salon and a second door to the forward stateroom. The head has a sink and mirror area and a separated shower area. Port and forward of the head is the master stateroom with a double berth offset to the port side with storage below. In master stateroom there is a vanity w/ three large drawers, a teak mirrored cabinet and lighting, two drawers under berth, large hanging locker, four cabinets and two book selves. Aft to port and opposite the starboard settee is the U-shaped settee with table that opens so both settees can use the table. Further aft is the U shaped galley with four drawers, four cabinets, top loading refrigerator/freezer, double SS sink and three burner propane stove/thermostatic oven.
Hull and deck are gelcoated white with blue and red accent striping on both the hull and the cabin sides.
Binnacle mounted center and aft in large cockpit. It has a POD with the Nav Electronics mounted in it.
Galley is located at the bottom of the steps leading down to cabin and is immediately on the port side. It is U-shaped with storage and top-loading refrigeration aft, stove/oven to outboard and sinks and storage facing forward. It has a teak/holly sole.
