Half Cat is currently in the water in San Carlos, Mexico cruising with her current owners.
“HALF CAT” is a comfortable cruising boat that has sailed throughout the Sea of Cortez for many years. The boat has had only three owners who have maintained it in great condition. It has numerous spare parts, including oil and fuel filters, belts, water pumps, engine fluids, and the ever-needed nuts, bolts, and screws. All lights are LED, saving on battery usage.
The ketch rig allows for various sail configurations depending on the wind. It can be easily sailed two-handed. Sails and sail tracks were replaced in 2014, and along with the sail pak for the main sail, makes raising and lowering the sails easy.
Half Cat is a perfect live aboard or a cruiser to take you to remote places or quaint little towns. The interior has two cabins, each with a head, that are separated by the saloon and engine room, giving crew privacy on long trips. The aft cabin has two accesses, one from the cockpit and one as a walkthrough from the saloon. The saloon is large but has many hand holds for safety in rough seas. The reverse cycle air conditioning provides either cooling or heating after a day of sailing.
Half Cat has lots of storage for provisioning and carrying supplies. The galley has a large refrigerator and a comfortable layout that is designed for cooking during a voyage or for offering up drinks and food to those in the cockpit.
It has a large secure cockpit with a hard dodger and bimini that has full side enclosures to protect against inclement weather. The cockpit also is a great gathering place for visitors for Happy Hour, dinner, or just conversing. The foredeck provides enough room for shaded lounging in an anchorage.

Vessel Walkthrough
Come aboard Half Cat from either port or starboard gates on her lifelines, into her center cockpit with hard dodger with opening central window. Immediately to starboard you will find access to all tanks including fuel, water and waste as well as shore power. Dinghy davits are located aft. Solar panels are mounted on the lifelines and stanchions to the stern above the aft cabin.
In the cockpit there are two hatches offering access below decks. The main hatch and companionway are located to port leading to the salon and galley, while the second hatch leads to the aft cabin.
Going down the main companionway you will find the galley to starboard and the navigation station to port. Moving forward from the companionway, L-shaped seating with dining table is to starboard and forward of the galley. Folding dinette. Additional seating located to port and forward of the navigation station, along with cabin heater.
Forward of the salon you fill find entrance to the double V-berth. One of two heads is located to starboard. The forward head has two, dual-purpose doors which will close off either the head or forward cabin. Shower is located in forward head.
Moving back through the salon, you will find the passageway to the aft cabin located to port of the companionway. In the passageway is the navigation station as well as very roomy access to the engine compartment. Another door located in the passageway allows privacy in the aft cabin. Upon entering the aft cabin, you will see the second set of stairs that leads back up to the cockpit. Ductwork for one of two air-conditioners is located under these stairs. The second of two heads is located to the starboard side of the aft cabin. This second head could easily be adapted to have a shower as well. Starboard side of aft cabin has additional engine room access where you will find the generator.
