The Hunter 44 Deck Salon is an innovative cruiser with a performance orientated hull drawn by noted designer and racer, Glenn Henderson, Hunter's Chief Designer. Following on the heals of the tremendously successful Hunter 356, the 44 shares the same sailing attributes. Like the 356, the 44 carries the beam well aft, but the additional beam does not hinder performance or sea keeping ability, it actually enhances it. Wide windows and ports offer a real panorama and the creative layout allows for two full staterooms with two full heads with separate stall showers. Continuing to innovate and go more upscale, this Hunter will offer special amenities such as flat screen television and Bose Audio systems as standard. Galley appliances are stainless steel and surrounded by genuine Corian countertops. Innerspring mattresses are standard in both spacious staterooms and there is even a special desk/office area in the master.

The Hunter 44 DS is an exceptional cruiser with all the right amenities for weekend or extended cruising. ONE TIME is in beautiful condition and has been continually maintained by her fastidious owner. Absolutely no disappointments, super clean and still has the new boat smell.

Above decks the 44 Deck Salon was designed to offer easy in handling and easy in sailing. The cockpit features high coamings for comfortable seating under sail or dockside and a walk-thru transom for easy access to the dinghy davits and stern ladder. All lines lead aft to coach roof mounted sheet stoppers and self-tailing winches. The main sheet and main halyard winch are electric. The genoa sheet winches are mounted aft next to the helm. The mainsheet traveler control lines are mounted off the arch for quick release and adjustment. All the lines are within easy reach of the helm for safe passage or single-handed sailing. The custom Bimini, connector and dodger provide excellent protection from the elements. The Bimini  sitting window gives easy view of the main and masthead. Wide side decks and well-placed handrails allow for safe easy passage while docking and anchoring. The electric anchor windlass and double anchor roller make anchoring a snap.

Below decks the 44 Deck Salon maximizes crew comfort. The raised deck salon coach roof affords oversized forward and side windows providing abundant natural light and tremendous ventilation creating a very open and airy feeling. The main salon features a large dinette to port and a long bench settee to starboard. Both settees with convert to sleeping berths. Just aft of the starboard settee is the full navigation station with navigation desk and forward-facing captain's bench which is perfect for trip planning or working in your office. The full cruising galley is to port and offers all the amenities for the cruising gourmet with solid surface counter tops, separate refrigerator and freezer, propane stove and oven and loads of storage and food preparation space.

The 44 Deck Salon features two private cabins. The guest cabin is forward and has an oversized double "V" style berth, hanging locker, under berth storage and access to the forward head. A large opening hatch provides natural light and ventilation. The owner's cabin is aft and features a large double centerline berth, settee, hanging and storage lockers and private access to the aft head.

Under sail the 44 Deck Salon has few equals. The boat was drawn by noted designer Glenn Henderson and offers some rather intricate features not usually found on cruising boats of this size. First, is the “Bow Hollow", which increases the flow of water in the forward sections and increases hull speed. Second, is a "Stern Reflex", which allows a flatter exit wake and less turbulence. This also increases performance. Hunter has incorporated some extraordinary features into cruising boats to enhance their performance without sacrificing comfort and the ease of sailing.

The interior is amazing with an open and airy feel. There are beautiful miniblinds on larger windows and Ocean Aire screen and solid covers for each overhead hatch. Every port hole has screens. The teak and holly sole and beautiful matching upholstery make the Hunter 44 Deck Salon a true beauty.

You enter the cockpit by way of either the port or starboard boarding gates or directly through the walk-through transom. The cockpit is large and features port and starboard seating with beautiful blue Sunbrella cushions. There are port and starboard raised stern seats on the aft rail with teak seats and blue Sunbrella cushions. To assist in underway viewing the owner has manufactured a custom elevated helm seat which can be disassembled and stored when not in use. The cockpit is protected with a dark blue Sunbrella bimini, connector and dodger. There is a Textalene screen full cockpit enclosure. The side deck is easily maneuvered with easy access forward and stainless-steel handrails, high stanchions with double coated lifelines and access to the anchor locker. In the transom are storage lockers and the propane locker. Under the cockpit seating on the port side is another large storage locker. The cockpit offers fold up port and starboard tables for outside relaxation or dining. There is a transom hot and cold water shower.

Entering the main cabin is forward with a huge sliding overhead hatch and folding doors. The entry is unlike most sailboats as it features nice gentle slopped teak treads. The entry is similar to home steps. Once inside the main cabin the enormity of the 44 Deck Salon is apparent. Under the companionway steps is access to the engine compartment.

Once down the companionway steps you enter the interior. Huge 6’6” headroom, salon sky lights, large windows and ports, beautiful teak and holly sole and interior fabrics, the 44 Deck Salon feels like a much larger sailboat. Working from the forward cabin aft, here is the layout plan.

The master stateroom entry is starboard and aft with a private entry to the head just inside the cabin door. Stepping down into the master cabin, there is a slightly offset centerline queen island berth with a padded headboard. On the starboard side of the cabin is a large cedar lined hanging locker with a fiddled shelf above. Aft of that is a deep nightstand. A fiddled shelf runs the length of the berth along the hull and has areas storage beneath it. On the port side, there is another cedar lined hanging locker, a wide changing seat with storage beneath it and a recessed bookshelf with adjustable shelves.  Across from the foot of the berth is a solid surface countertop with an arched mirrored-door locker with an adjustable shelf and 3 dressing lights above it. There is additional storage beneath the berth. Behind the countertop and cabinet is access to the transmission and aft engine.

There are four opening ports, one fixed port and an opening hatch for lighting and ventilation. Additionally, there are reading lights at the head of the bed and one in the seating area, three lights above the vanity space and two overhead lights. Headroom is Excellent at 7'2" at the entry and 32" of space above the mattress to the cockpit insert.

The master head has dual entry from the salon as well as the aft stateroom. As you enter from the salon the electric head is directly in front of you with a counter and sink to the right. There is a locker beneath the sink as well as a mirrored front drop medicine cabinet above it. Forward is the separate stall shower, with a frosted glass bi-fold door and shower wand on an adjustable height bar. There are two overhead lights, two opening ports and an overhead hatch for lighting and ventilation. Plenty of headroom also.
The forward cabin V-berth is a spacious and has locker spaces beneath as well as storage under the bunk. Padded hull sides keep it comfortable to lean against with fiddled shelves that wrap continuously around above either side of the berth. A large arched mirror at the foot of the bed helps make the space feel even larger than it already is. There is a settee on starboard with storage beneath it. Aft of the seat is a tall divided cedar lined locker with a cedar lined hanging space on one side and adjusting shelving on the other. The forward stateroom as ample headroom of 6'1".
The en-suite head is to port just inside the cabin entry. As you enter, the head is in front of you, with a solid surface counter-top with a fiddled shelve above it. Aft is the stainless-steel sink with double door storage beneath and a mirrored medicine cabinet above it. The separate shower stall is forward with a folding shower door and teak seat and grate. There are 3 lights above the medicine cabinet, an overhead light in the shower and an overhead hatch for light and ventilation. The head has ample head room at 6'2".
Moving aft into the salon, on starboard is a long settee, with storage beneath and behind it. Above is a single hinged locker and a fiddled shelf and a continuous fiddled shelf running the length of the hull side above that.  On the port side is a huge U-shaped dinette. The dinette can easily seat six for meals. The table can be either 32" or enlarged to 50" wide with the center leaf installed. When converted to a berth, it is large enough to sleep two. There is loads of storage under the dinette seating.  Above and below are two drop-down and one hinged door lockers, with a fiddled shelf between them and a fiddled shelf above running the length of the hull sides. Headroom is an amazing 6'11" and the space is huge and comfortable with great visibility from the deck saloon windows all around.

The L-shaped galley is at the base of the companionway on the port side. Wrap-around solid surface counter tops have tall sculpted and radiused hand holds for safety. The deep double stainless-steel sinks are oriented toward centerline and face forward. There is a splash back guard protecting the salon seats. Below the sink is a double storage cabinet and to the right is a large upright refrigerator. Outboard of the sink is a below-counter trash bin with an additional storage shelf behind the trash bin. Moving around along the port side is a pull-out 3-tiered wire shelving unit. All the way aft is the Force 10 stove and the front opening freezer. Beneath the stove and freezer are storage drawers. Above that counter along the hull are the microwave cabinet and a large drop front storage locker and forward of that a glass double door dish storage area. A fiddled shelf runs continuously above all of that along the hull. At the aft end above the counter is a 3-tiered spice rack. Between the counter and the companionway is a tall pantry unit, with arched double doors, adjustable shelves and organizers. Additionally, there are 3 drawers below that. Galley head room is 6'10".
