Freeman Boatworks set the bar for performance sportfishing catamarans when Billy Freeman set about developing an offshore center console fishing platform in 2007 that combined the stability and spacious deck area of a cruising catamaran with the speed of a racing catamaran and the sleek graceful lines of a custom sportfish. Working with naval design engineer Jesse Rhodes, the Freeman vented bottom catamaran hull form was designed from the ground up specifically to run at high speeds in a variety of offshore sea conditions with a soft, dry ride. The Freeman 47’s wide 13’2” beam also affects the fishability and ride quality and is capable of hauling more gear, people, and fish than any previous model. ROUND PEN provides a comfortable ride during long offshore runs and back with its 1000-gallon fuel capacity, exceeding marine industry manufacturing standards and USCG safety equipment requirements.

ROUND PEN features the Teleflex Optimus 360 EPS (electronic power steering) backbone system and the Seastar Joystick with the SeaStation feature, allowing her to handle like a sportscar. The system is integrated with Garmin’s GHP20 autopilot and has revolutionized handling of her quad 400hp Mercury Verado outboards, that are capable of turning independently for precision low speed and close quarter maneuvering, such as docking. The SeaStation function allows Position Hold, Heading Hold or both Position and Heading Hold for dynamic vessel positioning, especially useful for keeping the transom towards the fishing action.
