2001 Carver 506 Motor Yacht
The 506's interior is generously finished in cherry. Fit and finish are exceptional, and the hardware, fixtures and fabrics appear as first-class. This 506 has been meticulously cared for with constant care and upgrades when needed.
The 506 is an impressive design with an appealing modern approach to styling. Her 51-foot, 7-inch LOA and 15-foot, 4-inch beam are common for a yacht of her type, but within those dimensions, Carver delivers a layout one might find on a 60-footer. She has what is essentially a raised pilothouse, fully enclosed and air conditioned with a comfortable L-Shaped seating area and halogen lighting. A helm bench for three faces a simulated burled-wood trim dash, and accommodations for electronics are integrated in the design. For a bit of fresh air, the 82-by-60-inch tinted glass sunroof slides open at the push of a button.
The 506's aft deck, also fully enclosed and air conditioned, is integrated with the raised bridge. The design allows the captain a view aft as well as direct contact with guests on the bridge and aft deck. The bridge deck has ample seating for a crowd and a centered wet bar with ice maker and refrigerator. The aft deck has no built-in seating, but the 118 sq.ft. area easily accommodates a loose seating group and cocktail table. Wing doors lead to the slightly raised side decks, side boarding gates and bow. A third door accesses the swim platform, which can also be used for boarding. Aft the swim platform is large with a dunnage box and electric dingy davits.
A sliding door on the aft deck leads to the salon, where the advantages of the 506's exterior lines are revealed. Because of the raised side decks, the usable interior space extends full beam to the hull sides with obvious tangible effects in interior room. An L-Shaped sofa is to port, with a love seat-size sofa with twin recliners to starboard. A dining area for four is forward opposite the galley, which has wood flooring and molded, simulated-stone countertops.
The master stateroom is aft of the main salon and has a queen-size island berth with an innerspring mattress. There is a vanity area, as well as several cedar-lined hanging lockers. The shower/tub and Vacu-Flush head are in separate compartments. Two guest staterooms are forward of the salon. The forward-most rivals the master, with a queen-size island berth and private vanity, Vacu-Flush head with vanity, and a separate stall shower. The second guest stateroom has two berths and an enclosed with a vanity, shower, and Vacu-Flush head.
Access to the engine compartment is through a hatch in the salon that incorporates the salon sole and the steps that lead to the afterdeck. Engine room access is excellent. The machinery space area extends the length of the salon belowdecks where all ship systems are within reach. Easy service and maintenance capability.

Entering the boat is easy by way of the port or starboard entry doors or onto the swim platform and up the circular molded steps to the enclosed aft deck. Access around the exterior is excellent and safe with high bulkwards aft and stainless steel rails forward. Wide side decks make maneuverability a breeze. On the bow are two lounge cushions for relaxing on nice days. The anchor locker has a wash down faucet for cleaning around the bow after a nice day on the hook. Entering the massive aft deck is through port and starboard wing doors. The aft deck is completely enclosed with both marine air and heat making it a great gathering place no matter the outside weather. There are two chairs, a love seat and coffee table for relaxing. Up a few steps you enter the massive bridge deck with seating for a crowd, which is also heated and cooled. There is an L-Shaped settee to port with table and a lounging settee to starboard along with a centered wet car cabinet with ice maker, refrigerator and sink. The helm has seating for three with a bolster center seat. All instrumentation and electronics are within easy reach. Plenty of storage cabinets to. The Captain has excellent visibility both fore and aft. Above the bridge deck is a sun/moon roof that open and closes with a push of a button. Both the aft deck and bridge deck have beautiful snap in carpets.
From the aft deck you can enter the main cabin. The main cabin is expansive and the open concept along with complete beam interior makes you feel like you are on a much bigger yacht.
The cabin steps are unique as they are hinged and pivot up and supported by gas shocks to allow access into the large engine room. To port is a Flex-Steel Ultraleather settee with two recliners and a seating area. To starboard is an additional settee. The main salon offers amazing natural light with unique upper and lower windows allowing the crew to see outside whether seated or standing up. Along the forward starboard side is an entertainment center and a small bar area overlooking the galley below. The main salon offers excellent storage with cabinets around. Forward at to port is the dining table, not the usual built-in dinette, but an actual table with seating for four. The U-Shaped galley is opposite and to starboard one step down. The galley area is large with plenty of storage and food preparation space. The Sub Zero built-in stacked refrigerator and freezer are forward, appliances are along the side and the double sinks are facing aft.
Down a few steps are the guest areas. To port is the guest cabin with twin beds and a private head with shower, vanity and VacuFlush head. All the way forward is the VIP stateroom, which is quite large and features hanging lockers, an overhead hatch, centerline queen berth with storage and a private head with separate shower stall, vanity and VacuFlush head. This stateroom is large enough to be the master on most boats!
Back to the salon and down a few steps is the master cabin. WOW! Huge and comfortable. The master has a queen sized athwartships berth with the headboard to port. There are port and starboard nightstands, an aft settee, plenty of cabinets and drawers and the cabinet for the stacked washer and dryer. The master head is along the port side with the head area forward and the tub/shower area aft. Centered is the vanity and sink with plenty of storage.
The interior of the 506 is massive and with the enclosed aft deck and bridge deck your total living space rival most NYC apartments! No disappointments here!
Galley:
The U-Shaped galley is one step down in the main salon along the forward starboard side. The dining table is across from the galley and offers seating for four. Excellent food preparation and storage spaces will please even the most discriminating onboard chef.
All electronics are within easy reach from the helm seat.
All deck and stainless-steel hardware is through-bolted with larger aluminum backing plates for added strength and safety.
Electrical:
The main electrical panel is in cherry cabinets located in the main salon along the aft starboard side. Additional DC panel on bridge deck for bridge electronic and systems.
Mechanical:
Engine room access is exceptional through an opening in the salon sole. The entire engine compartment is accessible.
Carver's newer models incorporated a new structural design in which wood is eliminated below the waterline. The laminate schedule was modernized, with multidirectional reinforcements and a vinyl ester skin coat for blister protection. A matrix of transverse frames and continuous longitudinal stringers is molded separately and bonded to the hull.
Bulkheads are made from marine plywood. The hull bottom is a solid, hand laid laminate with six layers of triaxial/mat reinforcement. Foam coring stiffens the hull sides (above the waterline), and balsa-core stiffens the decks and superstructure. Welded aluminum beams support the marine plywood salon sole, and fiberglass liners define the belowdecks accommodations. Carver dedicated itself to refining construction practices and, to make the point with customers.
