‘Dame Fortune’ was built as the display and show boat for Camano Marine the well respected boat builder that was based in Richmond B.C. The 41 was conceived on feedback from legions of loyal Camano 31 owners who wanted a bigger, safer and nicer yacht. The thoughtfulness of design and quality of build are evident throughout.
Stepping aboard from the swimgrid through the transom door you enter a large cockpit that is protected from weather by the partially overhanging upper deck. The cockpit features hot and cold shower, fresh and raw water washdown, propane locker, barbeque and storage lockers.
The cavernous lazarette has storage space for all your cruising gear, bikes, prawn and crab traps.
Entering the salon through a large door from the cockpit the open interior, measuring 11 x 15 feet, has space usually only found in larger yachts. The floor and joinery are in sapele and mahogany and the headliner and walls have suede covering giving the interior a warm and comfortable feel throughout. The large windows, 15 in total with 6 opening/screened, provide clear 360 degree sight lines giving the salon the feel of a much larger yacht. Custom blinds allow the windows to be filtered or opaque for protection from the sun or privacy.
In the salon, two Ultra-leather barrel chairs and a custom table are to port with a fixed Ultra-leather couch (with extending footrests) that converts to a double bed to starboard. The microwave is in a built in cabinet just forward of the couch and a built in end table is on the aft side.
The u-shaped galley is to port with a large counter area, molded double sink, Force 10 propane stove with oven and the fridge/freezer just beside. Below the counters are multiple drawers and a pull-out pantry for provisions.
The helm is to starboard with a full navigation suite and a beautiful Ultra-leather custom Lebroc helm chair custom embroidered with ‘Dame Fortune’. Visibility forward is unimpeded through the 3 large windows all with wipers.
Forward and down three steps you enter the single large master suite that offers space usually found in much larger yachts. The floor is carpeted and the combination of mahogany and sapele joinery make it is a very comfortable space. The island queen bed is walk around on both sides of the Temper-Pedic mattress. Ample bookshelves, drawers and hanging lockers provide space for long term cruising. Under floor storage provides lots of room for spares and bulky items. A Splendide combination washer/dryer is in a locker facing the bed. The head and shower are two separate spaces to starboard and port, respectively and allow the use of the head to function as a day head.
Throughout the salon, galley and master stateroom the LED lights are on adjustable/dimming switches for ambience and enjoyment. Two Espar diesel heaters and two electric wall heaters maintain warmth in the salon and master suite.
The engine compartment is accessed from the salon sole through three hinged hatches equipped with gas struts. This space is impeccably clean and everything is labeled, tidy and well organized. The space is well laid out allowing access to all sides of the Yanmar engine. The Northern Lights generator is aft in a sound shield with easy access for maintenance. The two fuel tanks and two water tanks are located outboard on either side of the main engine and forward of the tanks, the SCI water maker is to starboard with the water heater to port. The Reverso oil change system is located forward with the Vacuflush sanitation equipment.
From the cockpit an angled ladder with 8 steps brings you to the upper deck and flybridge. On the aft end of the upper deck there is plenty of space for outdoor furniture and lounging. Moving forward under the large bimini top there is an L shaped seating area to starboard with storage under and a small table. A custom Lebroc Ultra-leather helm chair is on centerline and a second helm chair to port and there is lots of additional storage underneath the dash.
A 2005 Aquapro RIB with 25 hp Yamaha is easily launched from the SeaWise Davit on the swim platform.
Camano’s unique KEELFORM® Hull provides the performance advantages of both a displacement hull and a planing hull for improved tracking, stability and fuel economy at any speed. Forward, the stem is deep as it would be in a displacement hull. Aft, the bottom flattens out into hard chines just like a planing boat, but with a large keel to protect the running gear. This keel provides much of the boat’s displacement, making the Camano an adept performer at any speed with good fuel economy, superior handling and impressive seaworthiness.
The Camano 41 is structurally formed of high strength fiberglass laminates. Hull bottom is solid hand-laid fiberglass with molded structural stringer system. Keel is mat and roving reinforced with carbon fiber throughout all high-stress areas. Hull sides cored with closed cell foam above the waterline, deck areas cored with balsa for stiffening and sound/thermal insulation. Hull-to-deck joints and bulkheads are fiberglass laminated to form strong uni-body structure. The engine room is thoroughly insulated to control both noise and temperature.
