The Bayfield cruiser line of sailboats were developed in the early 1970’s at the Bayfield Boat Yard, Clinton, Ontario. Designed by H. Ted Gozzard, the Bayfield 40 has a unique combination of new and traditional thinking with her clipper bow, trailboards, and teak combings combined with a beamy fully updated interior. This is a big 40-footer, and she is known as much for her good looks and sailing capabilities, as for her amazingly spacious accommodations.

The Bayfield 40 has a beautiful, traditional yet timeless, well appointed interior. You will find many "comforts of home" with features not found on current production sailboats.


Entering from the cockpit companionway are cabins to port & starboard with privacy panels and beautiful cabinetry for storage. Both have very comfortable, custom, mattresses. Access to the engine is under the companionway ladder. Forward of the starboard berth is the large settee with a drop-leaf table and more storage. To port, just forward of the aft berth is the Nav Station. Just forward of the Nav Station is the Galley with a gimbaled, 2-burner Hillerange stove, top loading refrigerator with 12volt Waeco system or AC Sea Frost system, Both systems serviced Feb 2019 and microwave oven. Included is a large stainless steel double sink and "on demand" hot water heater. The Head is located just forward of the Galley. The Head is equipped with a large separate shower and a new Marine toilet. The interior is kept light and bright with fresh air from numerous opening bronze ports and a large teak "butterfly" hatch.
