Banjer were manufactured to Lloyds standards and to meet the demanding cruising of the North Sea. The Banjer 37 Motorsailer is a handsome fiberglass ketch rigged pilothouse Motorsailer, modeled on the lines of a North Sea trawler, with a distinct emphasis on the motoring side of her job. Banjer 37 was designed by the Dutchman Dick Lefeber and built from 1968 by Intermarine N.V., at Eista Werf, their Ammerzoden premises close to Netherhemert, Holland. The hull and superstructure were molded by Polyboats of Amsterdam (later by Polymarin), to Lloyd's specification, and the minimum hull thickness is half of an inch. Only 45 were built and only 14 were imported into the United States.
From 1972 the Banjer 37 Motorsailer was marketed in the U.K by Stangate Marine who had a yard at Littlehampton exclusively to handle this boat and her sisters, the Rogger series. From about 1974 Stangate built the Banjer "Transoceanique" version, with a four-foot bowsprit and a standard sail plan of 75 m2, and continued to do so until 1979, after production had stopped in Holland.
These rugged pilothouse Motorsailer are highly suitable for extended coastal cruising and have also proved their sailing abilities through long passages. Banjer 37 Motorsailer can be found as far away from her original home waters as in Papua, New Guinea.
The web site, banjer37.net, was conceived to provide the Banjer 37 Motorsailer Club with an instrument to reach and gather Banjer 37 owners and enthusiasts throughout the world and give them a place where to share their experiences and their love for this proper little ship.
