Thomas Albanese was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to Long Island at the age of 8 years old. There he was raised on the shores of the Great South Bay of Long Island, New York. As a child, Tom spent most of his time on the water with his Mom and Dad and brothers. There he learned to fish, crab and enjoy the life of living on the water. At the age of 12, Tom was already docking the family 24’.
Tom’s family moved to a small town called West Islip on the eastern, south shore of Long Island where he graduated with a scholarship to a Trade School. There he studied auto body and engine maintenance. He also enjoyed car racing, but in later years, found out that he could support his family as a commercial clammer working on the waters of the Great South Bay; and, he successfully pursued this for the next ten years, becoming one of the best on the water. He then started building boats and, later, remodeling houses. Tom then became a general contractor, and has continued to build and remodel homes for the last 35 years. Tom then moved to Stuart, Florida, 15 years ago, and resumed his life career as a State Certified Residential Contractor.
Tom has owned many boats ranging from 16’ to 41’ (which he still owns today). Three years ago he started to return to his life-long dream of selling boats. His dream came to reality when a local yacht broker found out how knowledgeable Tom is regarding boats and asked him to join their team. Listing more boats than almost everyone else there, Tom retains his yacht broker’s license and has decided to expand his career and joined United Yacht Sales. In Tom’s words: “The Dream has become a Reality.”
When not building and selling boats, Tom spends his time with his wife of 23 years, Carol, and their two dogs: Lily (a German Shepard) and Tramp (an over-sized Airedale mix). He also spends time at their condo in Marathon where Tom and his wife enjoy boating and fishing.
Tom also belongs to the Stuart Corvette Club, the Port St. Lucie Power Squadron and sits on the Board of Directors for Sombrero Resort in Marathon, Florida.
Never happier, he goes to great lengths to satisfy his clients and tries to make their boating dreams happen. Tom says he loves to see a client leave with a smile and their new boat! There’s no better place to be but out on the water!
