A New Class Champion is Added to the Fleet
Today’s Viking Yacht Co. was formed in 1964 when brothers Bill and Bob Healey purchased Viking Builders, a revered New Jersey manufacturer of wooden sport fishing and cruising boats. By 1971, the company built its first all-fiberglass model-the Viking 33 Convertible, followed up with the Viking 40, which sold over 400 within a ten-year period.
This colossal marketing success propelled Viking to the lead spot in the pleasure boat industry. With a long history of engineering excellence and sophisticated design, Viking entered the large motor yacht market with the purchase of Gulfstar Yachts in 1987, an innovative Florida builder who was known for having some of the most modern designs in the industry. In 1996, Viking Sport Cruisers was formed. Over the years, the business has expanded its manufacturing and offers top of the line convertibles, cruisers, and motor yachts. Viking is family owned and operated. The molds are designed and built in-house, with the majority of each vessel manufactured in-house as well. Viking is one of the premier yacht builders in the United States and widely respected in the marine industry.
One of Viking’s most recent launches is the Viking 60 Convertible. The hull design is rugged and seaworthy, yet lightweight and fuel-efficient. The window lines create a very appealing, modern look from the outside while her interior designs are both practical and luxurious. The family fisherman or the competitive, tournament angler alike will delight in owning this fine vessel!
