The Hatteras Advantage is clear from the moment you fire up the engines and slice through your first wave
Hatteras is a long-time leader in the design, engineering and construction of quality motor yachts and convertibles, having begun operations in 1960. Hatteras operations are in New Bern, North Carolina. Hatteras began with the Hargrave-designed Hatteras 41 Convertible, which was the first all-fiberglass sport fishing boat her size in the industry. Additional designs quickly followed, and by the late 1960s, Hatteras was able to offer a full line of models including the largest production fiberglass motor yacht then available, the Hatteras 50 MY.
Since its beginnings, Hatteras has evolved into the undisputed leader of production convertibles and motor yachts in the industry. When the market began to demand bigger boats, Hatteras delivered, expanding the Hatteras sport fishing fleet from 50’ boats to 90’ convertibles. Hatteras then began designing and producing a line of cruising yachts that range from 63-100 feet in length.
The experienced and expert naval architects and engineers at Hatteras know that traditional deep V-designed hulls have a higher tendency to roll and incur high hull resistance. Flat-bottom hulls offer less resistance but pound in normal sea conditions. Therefore, Hatteras has developed a series of convex and modified V-hulls that provide the best of both designs. Our hulls deliver a sharp entry and a soft, stable ride-a ride that has come to be known as the “Hatteras ride”.
